One of our favorite parts of the job is hearing all of the great ways guys propose!
Here is one of our recent favorites...

It was just another typical walk on the beach for Lisa and Justin... or so she thought! As they walked along the water, like they often do, Lisa came across a starfish in the sand. Justin knew that starfish was Lisa's favorite and that she would be sure to pick it up. Just as he planned, Lisa picked up the starfish. When she turned it over, she read the the note Justin pinned to the back.

That note read "Lisa, Will You Marry Me????"

Questions to Ask when Booking your Wedding Photographer

We have been talking with allot of brides lately and they all say the same thing "I am not sure what I should know or ask about wedding photography" We might be a little biased, but choosing your wedding photographer is one of the most important decision you will make when planning your wedding. "WHY?" well, I am glad you asked! Your wedding photographer is not only with you and your family all day, but after the wedding, the photographer is the only vendor you continue to work with. Your wedding images allow you to relive the emotion of the day, a day that goes by fast. With this in mind, we hope you enjoy our advice on things you should know, ask, and consider when choosing your photographer.

1.CHOOSE WITH YOUR HEART.
Your wedding photographer is the only vendor you will choose with your heart! Connecting with the person who will be there to capture the emotion of your day is #1 on our list. Photography is much more than just clicking a button. It is an "Art" that comes from the photographer's heart and skill. The more the photographer connects to you as a person, the more they will be able to capture your personality and emotion.

"We are big fans of color! Color makes us feel happy :)!"

2. Editing Style.
With the many photographers in the area, comes the variety of editing style. It is important to look at the colors and composition (angle) of the photos. Never hire a photographer and then tell them you like a certain "look" of another photographers work. Also, check to see if there editing style is consistent. If their style is not consistent, you may end up with photographs that does not suit your style.

3. Qualify your Photographer.
The wedding market is currently flooded with photographers, making the industry competitive. It makes it more important than ever that you "qualify" who you hire. {Fun Fact, the State of Florida qualifies a photographer as a professional by whether or not they charge money. If a photographer charges money, they can call themselves a "professional"} Here are some important questions to ask a photographer...

{1.} Ask to see a full wedding gallery and make sure that it is a wedding that they were hired to photograph. Being a guest at wedding and taking pictures is COMPLETELY different than when you are hired to do the job.

{2.} Ask WHO your photographer will be on the wedding day. This is especially important if you package includes 2 photographers.

{3.} Award Winning. If they are award winning, ask how they received the award.

{4.} Ask them to describe their style. As explained above.

{5.} Back-up Equipment. Heaven forbid that something happens during the wedding! Having back-up equipment is a must in this industry.

{6.} Education/experience. Talk to them about your venue and make sure they have experience and can deal with venue's lighting situation. Many churches do not allow flash which can be tricky to deal with. Also, many receptions have dimmed lighting.

{7.} How long do they keep your images. With many photographers including the digital images, the need to store your images may not be important to them. If you lose that disk of images, they may be lost forever.

There are many questions to ask, these are just our top favorites.

4. Creating a "Picture Perfect" wedding day.
Our recipe for "Picture Perfect" wedding...
{1.} Ceremony time. Choosing the ceremony time can be key in getting the best pictures. We encourage our couple's to book their ceremony time about 90 minutes before sunset. Click HERE to see the sunset time on your wedding day.
{2.} Wedding Coordinator. A Professional wedding coordinator allows you, your family, and your bridal party to enjoy the day without worrying about all of the details. We love this because the people you love are they with you enjoying the day and are not off working on the details.
{3.} Details. We love the personal touches that brides bring into their wedding. Heirloom items can make the day that more special and meaningful.
{4.} Photo Opportunities. Creating photo opportunities is a great way to get more images without being "posed" This can be anything from bringing props for the bridal party to having fun entertainment for the guests. Our favorite photo opportunity is the moment when the father see's his daughter dressed as a bride. Although we set up the location for this, the moment between father and daughter is real and very emotional. View some of these beautiful moments HERE.
{5.}Attire. Make sure your attire fits you and that you are comfortable. This is true for the groom as well. Constantly fiddling with your attire can be annoying for you and interfere with the moment.
Make you attire fun! Shoes are a great way to show off personal style!
{6.} Engagement Session. This is a perfect time to test drive your photographer! Not only will you get to see how you look in the images, but you will get to experience what it is like to work with them.

5. Let's talk Budget and Fast Food.
With the array of photographers you will notice an array of prices. While we think that it is very important that you choose your photographer with your heart, we understand that the cost of the photographer may be a deciding factor. You may often you hear "You get what you pay for" but what does that really mean? The best way I can describe it is this.... " McDonald's serve salads for around $5. The nice restaurants on the beach serve's salads for around $15. Although the salads are just about the same, the salads on the beach are three times the price! So what are you really paying for? The experience, the ambiance, and the customer service. You are paying for a nice evening out as opposed to sitting at a drive though talking through a little speaker. Your wedding is a special moment in your life. You are not likely to choose Mcdonalds to have your reception at. Are you likely to choose a photographer just because they are cheaper in price?

6. The JOY of loving your wedding images.
We recently renewed our vows for our 10 year anniversary. Before even knowing exactly what our plans were, we booked our photographers! Our time in Jamaica was the best day ever! The day went by so fast and it is just a blur until I look at the pictures. Every time I look at our photographs from that day, I relive the emotions from that moment! It is an amazing feeling! I just can't imagine it if I didn't love my images. If instead of joy, I felt sadness. Unfortunately, this is a story that I hear too often. This is why choosing your photographer with care is important. You cannot go back and re-capture those moment.

Mark + Christa Wedding at the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa

Mark & Christa's wedding was stunning! Not only was the fabulous flowers by Pink Pelican Florist vibrant and breathtaking, but the weather was the prettiest I have seen it all year! (Which is unusual for Hurricane Season in Florida) We even had a pink moon, perfectly complimenting the wedding colors. Mark & Christa chose to see each other before the ceremony which allowed them to spend more time with their guests who flew all over the world to be there. This also allowed more flexibility in shooting their pictures which we greatly enjoyed. The party was crazy-fun as they all tore up the dance floor to Class Act Productions. All good things must come to an end, and we ended it with a blast! The giant sparklers were a perfect touch to end such a beautiful day.

One of the things we love the most about in-home newborn sessions is being able to bring the parents personality into the shoot. For those who know Chris & Sierra, the bottle caps are sooo them! I think that Chris & Danny (my husband who is also a connoisseur of unique beer) had the most fun going through the bucket of bottle caps. Baby Max, at almost 10 pounds and seven day old, was a rock star to photograph! We are very excited to spend the next year documenting Max grow up and also trying a pint of some more home brewed craft beer. :)

The wedding day started off beautifully at the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa. Not only is this place gorgeous, but it is where Amanda works as the pastry chef at Cobolt. One of my favorite moments from the day is when Amanda's dad got to see her dressed as a bride for the first time. The rest of the day was filled with joy and laughter as we headed to the reception with the bridal party. There, we were trusted with golf carts! Luckily no one was harmed, not even the golf coarse! All 12 of us headed into the distance and got some amazing images.

Words cannot describe how amazing Ryan & Melissa's wedding day was! Trust me, I am trying to put the day into words and struggle to find just the right adjective to convey the feeling of the day!

Love, Joy, & Delightful are just a few that come to mind!

Melissa and Ryan decided to see each other before the ceremony in a private and romantic setting. The garden at the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa was a perfect setting! Ryan, dressed in his custom embroidered shirt and bow tie, waited anxiously for his bride to be. Melissa walked up behind him slowly in her Christian Louboutin. After taking in all of the emotions of seeing each other, they were ready to meet up with the bridal party for pictures.

The ceremony took place at First Baptist in Vero Beach, which was the same exact church that Melissa's parents were married at. The emotions continued as Melissa was escorted down the isle by her father. After a swift ceremony, the newly weds continued the celebration with a reception at the Riomar Country Club.

It was a gorgeous day that started off at the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa! Cassiea and Dave wanted to spend as much time with their guests and family as possible. To provide them with that time, we did all of their formal pictures before the ceremony. The grand staircase at the hotel was a perfect romantic setting! The ceremony setting was just as perfect! The sculpture garden at the Vero Beach Musuem of Art was filled with all of their closest family and friends. The emotion between Cassie and Dave was moving as she walked down the isle. After being together for 9 years, this moment was long awaited. The party continued on with a live band and a cocktail party in the garden.

It was raining all morning and well into the afternoon the day of Jessica & Micheal's wedding. Luckily 30 minutes before the outdoor ceremony was to take place, the rain stopped! In the middle of the ceremony, the sun peaked out from behind the clouds and shined down upon them. At that moment, we all knew that Jessica was thinking of her dad who passed away a couple of years ago. It was a moment I felt honored to capture and will never forget. After the ceremony, the dark sky's cleared up and the warmth of the sun made for some beautiful photographs.

Megan & Mark were married on beautiful Saturday afternoon! They pledged their love for one another at the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Jensen Beach. From the day that I first met Megan & Mark, I knew that the day would be filled with many special moments!

Megan's dad was brought to tears when we saw her in her gown for the first time!

Her dad wanted to help out and be apart of the day by putting her shoes on for her! So sweet!

Megan wore her mothers head piece from her wedding. I simply love special touches like that!

Michael & Erin's Vero Beach Wedding

If it is true what they say, "Rain is good luck on a wedding day" then Michael and Erin are in for a lifetime of luck and happiness. Not only did it pour down rain all day, but it snowed in Florida!

Luckily the wedding day was planned to be all in doors. The ceremony took place at St. Helens.

One of my favorite moments in a Catholic ceremony is when everyone does the greetings. It is such a wonderful moment and photo opportunity. Here is Erin greeting her father in law with a hug.

After the ceremony, we headed out west to Tara Plantation. Tara Plantation is best known at Christmas time for the beautiful decorations.

The reception was then held at my favorite local location, the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa

The bubbles remind me of snow falling!

I love Erin's mom just staring in awe of the father/daughter dance.

The beach side fire pit was perfect for the day!

This is one of my many favorite moments captured that day. We were setting up for family portraits and I caught Josh whispering into Jade's ear... leaves me wondering what he said :)

I about fell out of my chair when Jade told me that she was having 10 kids in her wedding!
I thought, how the heck am I going to control 10 kids!
Then I thought why try and just let the kids be kids!

I just LOVE the beautiful and vibrant colors that was incorporated into the wedding.

I think that this one speaks for itself :)
Needless to say, one of my absolute favorites!

Although Jade & Josh LOVE the beach, she wanted something unconventional.

The entire day was a blessing from above! We could not have asked for a more beautiful sunset!

This first dance is my favorite part of a wedding day!

Their first dance was to a 311 song called"Love Song"

Jade's brother did an amazing job with giving his toast! Had us all in tears... again!

This guest put it best when writing that "Dreams do come true"

Sneak Peek of a Vero Beach Wedding Day Photography

WOW! Words cannot describe how amazing this wedding day was! Jade & Josh started off as clients and have now become good friends. There are many more photographs to come. In the meantime, please enjoy our sneak peek!

After a month of rain and hot weather, January 2nd, 2010 was sunny and cool!!

Jade & Josh had 8 kids in their wedding party! How adorable are those bow ties!!

A photograph of her grandfather was attached to her flowers as a tribute!

There was not a dry eye as Jade walked down the isle! Such a beautiful moment! She was escorted by both her brother and uncle.

This is Jade's wonderful mother! Although a car accident has left her bound to a wheel chair and unable to speak, you could tell that she was so proud of her daughter! This photograph is by far my favorite and most meaningful! I will never forget that moment!

Josh's sister read from Dr. Suess, "Oh, the place you'll go"

Again, tears started to flow as Jade & Josh were announced husband and wife!

Wedding of Andrea & Dave in Brandon Florida

There are so many wonderful things to say about Andrea & Dave! There love for each other shined through out the day. I loved that as a couple they had their wedding with their style & personality. The entire day bursted with their personality!

The wedding begun with an intimate meeting of just the 2 of them.

We could not have asked for a more beautiful day!
God was surely smiling down from the heavens!

We even had time to play a friendly game of pool!

Can you see that Andrea is barefoot!! Yep, she stayed that way all day and all night!

It was a great way to get everyone excited!

Raasveldlt Family Portraits in Vero Beach

I have had the pleasure of photographing the Raasveldt family for 4 years now! Every year the kids get more and more fun to photograph! At the end of the session I was saying my goodbyes, and Madelief said to me that she had the "bestest time ever"! This is coming from the same little girl who wanted nothing to do with me at the beginning of the session!

I just LOVE this photo! I could not ask for a more perfect moment!
